if she was being completely honest with herself, which she generally tried to avoid doing, the young she-cat would have realized that this vast forest was really the only part of skyclan's territory that didn't utterly sicken her. the virtigo-inducing heights and hills throughout the rest of the land were a nightmare for a cat like her. however, as it were, she hadn't really come to terms with this yet. maybe somewhere in the back of her mind she was beginning to fear patrols for where she would be sent, the front of her mind was still packed with wonder at this new and beautiful land they had been blessed with. the mossy stretch of forest was, however, obviously the most beautiful bit. the couldn't wait to spend her life their and memorize the pattern of each tiny trickling stream she found, criss crossing and bubbling with miniscule fish and wonderful polished stones. she stopped at one then and peered down, her amber eyes wide with delight at the tiny frog she had spied. while her very feline instincts told her to kill it and eat it, she merely crouched and playfully batted at it so it gave a few halfhearted leaps in the other direction. swiftly crossing the little stream, she followed the creature and pawed it again, loosing a giggle as it plopped itself right into the water, thinking it was disguised. only its bulbous eyeballs broke the surface, flecked golden. only whiskers away from it, ivorypetal bent low, very low so that her face was near even with the little amphibian's. "hello!" she breathed, grinning. it didn't really seem to care. maybe it wanted to get eaten? she raised her paw to scoop it up and kill it, but then movement somewhere behind her actually did manage to startle it -and her- enough for it to jump up and swim away downstream. crescendo/ bearnose

bearnose this woman is my destiny she said, "shut up and dance"
The sun was baking Bearnose's thick dark pelt everywhere else, so he'd sought the cool shade of the mossy forest. The scent of plants and life buzzed all around the large cat, and he flicked an ear as he padded through the shaded area. It was strange, after leaving home he never really thought he'd feel at home in this place. It wasn't the old SkyClan camp, with it's gorge and winding trails to their dens. It didn't have the Whispering Cave, or anything else, but--slowly but surely--it was beginning to feel like home.
And there's going to be cats that have never seen the gorge. There are cats who have never seen it already, Bearnose thought with a twitch of his whiskers. Young cats that wouldn't remember the struggle and the pain, the cats that had died back home. He shouldered that aside with a snort, It's for the better, really.
Which was, undeniably, true. SkyClan had been starving by the time they'd left. Cats had died, not just in the fire, but because their bellies weren't full. It had been agonizing to watch each cat fall by the wayside, and if Bearnose could have just given them his own strength--if he could have somehow transferred his youth into every cat that slipped away he would have. But a cat couldn't give its life away like that, and here he was, walking through the forest--and pausing at the sight of another cat.
Ivorypetal was up ahead--Bearnose flicked his tail and blinked in surprise. Of course, it made sense to cross paths with another cat, it wasn't his territory alone. Summoning up a friendly purr--not difficult Bearnose was usually friendly--the large tom padded forward, "Hey! Ah..."
Bearnose winced. He hadn't meant to startle the she-cat, or her prey. "Sorry 'bout that," the large tom offered as he padded to the smaller cat's side. His eyes glimmered but his apology was sincere, "I didn't mean to spook your prey. Are you just out here hunting?"
