lazy lies [open]

technically speaking, violetpaw wasn't exactly old enough to be wandering about outside of camp on her own yet. however, she often chose not to take this rule all too literally, especially considering the fact that no one really expected her to make any choice but the most responsible one. this made wandering outside of the bounds of camp really very easy. in fact, it could hardly be considered 'sneaking' when you just informed the guard at the time that you needed a little quiet to soothe a headache and he shrugged trustingly. really, it kind of took the initial rush out of the whole thing.

regardless, there she was, and felt really quite pleased with herself. she didn't intend to wander far, because littlemask had been feeling woozy earlier and violetpaw had every intention of catching her mom a little fish or two to bring back and make her feel better. that, and she wanted to visit halfpatch to see if she had any ideas for a pick-me-up for her mother. better sooner than later, of course, but she truly relished the feeling of standing on the beautiful blue river's edge and letting the soothing burbling noises calm her. at this time of day, with the sun just beginning to creep toward its highest point, the river was serene and smooth-looking, without the rushing ripples of aquatic and feline activity, nor the ripples of the afternoon wind marring its lovely surface.

grinning to herself, violetpaw carefully picked her way out onto some stones perched at the river's edge, and waited for the school of fish she knew would appear. unfortunately, her forepaw slipped precariously on the slippery algae-covered ledge and she nearly toppled in, but clutched frantically at the slick stone until she regained her delicate grip. by then she was breathing heavily, but at last had found her way to a pleasant little hunting spot, and let out a little giggle at her own antics.
