PERSONALITY Shy when she first became an apprentice, Aspenpaw became more outgoing under One-eye's influence. Though she (thankfully) didn't catch her mentor's fondness for pranks, she learned the value of a good sense of humor and became fond of cracking jokes, especially when she'd rather deflect attention away from herself. Though she still isn't one to call too much attention to herself, she's outgoing enough to seek out the company of others and hold a conversation: two big improvements from her younger days.

Unfortunately, her inability to act during her mentor's mauling has dismantled Aspenpaw's faith in her abilities as a warrior. She gets nervous when any cat is watching and usually ends up making stupid mistakes. Though she understands the skills and performs well when told to hunt on her own or practice a move with a friend, any kind of pressure to do well makes her crumble. Though at first she often asked One-eye's opinion on this issue, she's become deeply ashamed and pretends that her training is going well if her former mentor asks. If she's no good as a warrior, then he was injured for nothing.

Luckily, Aspenpaw's a good liar. If the truth is harder to tell, she'll often lie and can make up some pretty good excuses without much time. Finding out how easy it is for her to lie has in turn made her suspect of others and she's not a cat to believe anything without some proof. This often leads to her thinking (or over-thinking) things through and she's becoming increasingly thoughtful.

HISTORY Aspenkit and Cedarkit were born identically ginger tabby with white despite no ginger being in their mother or their supposed father's recent family. In fact, they looked much more like another tom their mother had always been rather close to. It made things awkward for a moon or so, but they put it aside for the sake of their kits.

She was mentored to Dustcloud, an energetic warrior who at first overwhelmed the timid she-cat. As she got used to him, however, she appreciated his good humor and enthusiasm. She began to look forward to their training, even if she always felt a step behind other cats in her fighting and her speed. Nowhere was this lack more evident than during her last patrol with Dustcloud.

While stalking a rabbit, Aspenpaw failed to realize she herself was being hunted. It was Dustcloud who noticed the badger and attacked it. Aspenpaw found herself caught completely off her guard and froze as she watched her mentor fight. Luckily the rest of their patrol heard the yowling and came to the rescue. They saved Dustcloud's life, but he was badly injured. Aspenpaw helped escort him to the medicine cat and fretted terribly. She doted on her mentor, bringing him the best fresh-kill and finding feathers and new moss for his nest. But once he was renamed One-eye and sent to the elders' den she was assigned a new mentor and took up her training once again.

The incident has left Aspenpaw guilt-ridden and wondering if she's really fit to be a warrior at all. Though at the age where many other apprentices are eagerly awaiting their warrior ceremony, she feels unprepared. She still makes it a point to check in on One-eye and feels horrible when she sees him trying to continue warrior duties.
