As the early morning sun peaked from behind the sky-line, Ploverfang sat peacefully along the edge of camp. She had been assigned to the night boarder patrol which had already left and returned not long ago. Ploverfang had decided not to return to the warriors den, at times she found it cramped and hot, unlike many of the large she-cats companions who had already returned to their den in an attempt to get as much sleep as they could before the sun fully rose into the sky and giving way to the hustle and bustle of clan life that would make it impossible to sleep through. Kits would be active and playing, pretending to be leaders, deputies, and warriors, preparing for when they would be a true member of their clan, serving and protecting RiverClan just as the elder once had, apprentices were training to do, and what warriors did every day. But even though they were the future of the clan, they could be rather annoying at times and make quit a ruckus.
In all honesty, Ploverfang had never been good with kits. Which was odd considering how well she interacted with apprentices, and what a skilled mentor she had become. Ploverfang just wasn't sure what to do and became rather awkward around them, saying things she shouldn't say, and doing things one probably shouldn't be doing around kits. She wondered just how some cats were able to interact so well with them, luckily, she never planned on having kits, or a mate for that matter, and therefor would never truly have to worry about dealing with kits or ever having to deal with them.
As the sun grew higher in the sky, Ploverfang watched as several warriors exited the den, padding over to the apprentices and pulling them from their slumber. Deciding it was about time that Ploverfang make herself more useful, the she-cat lifted herself to her paws, padding over to the fresh-kill pile and picking up an average sized trout, she was useless when she was hungry. Padding back to her spot along the far side of camp, Ploverfang lay down on a small patch of warm sunlight. Taking a bite out of the trout, Ploverfang chewed through both flesh, scale, and bone, closing her eyes in a relaxed fashion as she stretched out her legs. Ploverfang wished to relax and eat before she would find something to do around camp or out in the territory.

cardinalstar liked to try and be awake before the majority of her clan. she'd tried to make a habit of being up just before the sun rose just so that she could watch as the camp began to stir with the arrival of the sun over the horizon. it was soothing, curling up in the shelter of her den and observing the first stirrings of the riverclan cats on the island. it also offered her a certain peace of mind, knowing she'd be awake and aware if anything had gone amiss during the night. not that there seemed to be anything to report this morning.
heronstrike was already up and about, organising the first patrols of the day and directing cats to where they were needed most. the lynx point tom could be trusted to make sure things ran smoothly for the day, but it also left cardinalstar with time to start feeling antsy. the deputy took care of things, true, and she was glad to have his help in managing the needs of the clan, but that also meant the leader felt as though she wasn't doing enough. so she'd just have to find herself something to do. standing up, the tortie cast a green-eyed glance toward the sky. the sun was high up enough now that a bit of hunting wouldn't be out of the question.
the she-cat padded daintily from her den, heading steadily in the direction of the fresh-kill pile. she wasn't yet hungry herself, but it was likely that cats yet unoccupied would be lingering about it. sure enough, she spotted another she-cat grabbing a bite to eat. ploverfang was good company, cardinalstar thought to herself while making her way over to where the warrior had settled down with her meal. "ploverfang," she mewed in a pleasant tone once she'd gotten close enough. she flopped down across from the younger cat. "i'm surprised to see you up and about so early."
